The Origin Adventure Vehicle
Living here in the coffee region of Colombia made me realize how relatively low-tourist/low-traffic the area is.
It started with a dream… The freedom of movement in a tropical paradise. There are so many things to discover here and a lot of it entails unpaved roads. I definitely wanted to get off the beaten path. I didn’t want to quickly jump from place to place far away and not really get to know the depth of the story of the region. I want to know where the little roads in my backyard lead and I decided to take them as far as I could take them. For example when I see a waterfall I try to imagine the children that played there 1,000 years ago. And maybe meet their ancestors and see what they’re up to today. You just don’t get that when you’re hopping from destination to destination too fast and sticking to the commonly visited tourist areas. There are a lot of “roads less traveled” in this region and we’d need a travel companion with good bones and combat boots. When you think of capability and dependability while traveling in a rugged environment, one of the names that comes to mind is Toyota.
There’s a great community here around these vehicles. It’s almost like you’re instant friends when you meet a complete stranger in another 70 series. In future posts I’ll talk about how I found her, the situation here for repairs and parts, and of course the adventures she’ll take us on along the way.
